The successful candidate in this role is expected to provide leadership to the staff and teams that are responsible for development of the Far North DistrictCouncil’s strategies, polices and blylaws
Bringing exceptional leadership, programme management, relationship management and strategic thinking skills to the Council theperson in this role is expectedwork collaboratively across the entireCouncil and become atrusted advisor to theelected members andsenior management team.
Other key responsibilities;
Lead and manage Council’s programme of strategy development projects.
The programme of strategy development projects must include the delivery and implementation of key projects that will standardise measures andbaselines that canbe usedbyall of Council to inform planning processes Lead the development and implementation of a strategyand policy monitoring and review programme aimed at ensuring that Council’s policies and strategies are relevant and delivering on Council’s objectives and outcomes while beingcompliant with currentand impending legislation Develop and manage budgets in alignment withthe Council’s financial management processes Prepare and deliver Council Reports as per theschedule of Council meetings. You will have experience leading a team of policy experts preferably in a changingwork and political environment You are likely to be well versed in the public policy environment, have highly developed skills of persuasion andinfluence and excellent relationshipand development skills particularly with Māori/iwi/hapū You will hold a relevant tertiary qualification and have substantial experience in policy development coupled withstrong project management experience.
