About the Firm

Our client is a boutique specialist litigation practice with a strong national reputation in insurance, commercial disputes and regulatory work.

They act for insurer clients, policyholders and professionals in high‑value, complex matters.

The firm values high calibre legal talent who are eager to develop their litigation skills in a supportive but demanding environment.

Role Overview

You will join the team as a litigation‑lawyer with 2‑3 years PQE and work across a range of dispute resolution matters including professional indemnity, insurance coverage disputes, commercial and regulatory litigation.

You'll be involved in every stage of the matter lifecycle: from investigation, pleadings and discovery, through mediation/arbitration and trial/hearing support.

You'll work closely with senior lawyers and partners, and build your own file responsibility under mentor guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and draft court pleadings, applications, affidavits and memoranda.

  • Assist in case strategy, fact‑gathering, witness preparation, negotiation and settlement processes.

  • Manage smaller matters autonomously, and support senior counsel on larger or more complex files (e.g., multi‑jurisdictional, multi‑party).

  • Attend client meetings, conferences and hearings (junior counsel role); prepare briefs.

  • Work collaboratively with team members to deliver high quality, timely and commercially‑aware legal advice.

  • Develop skills in insurance law, regulatory investigations, coverage issues, professional negligence and commercial litigation work.

  • Maintain excellent professional standards, support the firm's culture of training, development, and client service excellence.

Desired Experience & Attributes

  • 3‑4 years PQE in litigation (commercial, insurance, regulatory or professional indemnity preferred).

  • Strong foundational legal skills (research, drafting, advocacy, negotiation).

  • Exposure to court processes, mediations or arbitrations is highly desirable.

  • Ability to interpret and apply insurance policy wording or regulatory frameworks is a plus.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively as part of a small team.

  • High level of commercial awareness, responsiveness and client‑focus.

  • A professional, confident manner and comfort working on challenging matters in a demanding environment.

  • Self‑motivated, keen to learn and ready to progress their career towards senior litigation roles.
