We are seeking a Lecturer (Assistant Professor in USA) / Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor in USA) in Software Engineering to join the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering and Design.

In this role, you will undertake high-quality research and teaching in the broad field of Software Engineering.

You will contribute to the activities of the Software Engineering research group and play a key role in shaping the Departments strategic growth in software engineering education and research.

Your research may focus on one or more of the following areas:

  • AI for Software Engineering
  • Software as a Service (SaaS) and related technologies
  • Software architecture and design
  • Software security
  • Green and sustainable software

Other areas of software engineering may also be considered.

However, AI for Software Engineering is a priority area of focus.

You will teach Software Engineering courses across our undergraduate specialisations (Software, Computer Systems, Electrical and Electronic Engineering), contribute to postgraduate course development, and collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to advance the Departments teaching and research excellence.

This is a permanent, full-time (40 hours per week) academic position.

The salary range for this role is $97,831 - $142,883 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

For example, billions of phones charge due to this technology and dynamic charging of EVs also happens thanks to this.

Our researchers in Software Engineering have been funded by global companies such as Meta, Google and also by prestigious public research funding agencies in New Zealand.

We are looking for an outstanding academic, an emerging global leader, who will contribute to high-quality teaching, impactful research, and meaningful engagement with industry and the software engineering community.

You will bring:

  • A PhD in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related area.
  • A strong track record of published research in Software Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in conducting high-quality academic research.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively and lead initiatives.
  • Commitment to innovative, inclusive, and culturally responsive teaching.

Preferred:

  • Experience supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research.
  • Research expertise in areas such as AI for SE, SaaS, software architecture and design, software security, or sustainable software.
  • Demonstrated academic leadership potential and the ability to secure research funding.
