What You Will Do
We are seeking candidates from a range of backgrounds, including people with extensive industry experience, or academics with an industry background and research expertise.
You will design, develop and deliver teaching in design into the Electrical and Electronic, Computer, and Mechatronic Engineering disciplines, including delivering ENEL400, the capstone final year project course for undergraduate students in these disciplines.
This capstone course is a team and industry-based research and design project, preparing students for the realities of engineering practice.
You will benefit from mentoring and supervision from continuing academic staff and your collaborative approach will contribute to, and build, networks and projects both within the Department, industry and across the university.
For the Lecturer (Teaching and Administration) rank, you will be expected to develop, foster, manage, coordinate and grow industry-based relationships to support the delivery of projects within ENEL400, as well as support other industry-focussed Department activities.
For the Lecturer and Senior Lecturer rank, you will add to the Department's collaborative research culture by fostering a research programme, including undertaking research, supervising postgraduate students and disseminating research with a focus on positive impact.
Your research interests will align with the Department's existing research strengths, including power systems, power electronics, microfluidics, electronic nanomaterials, embedded systems, image processing signal processing, or other relevant areas.

You are an experienced engineer with a background in electrical, electronic, or software engineering, and a strong understanding of design or systems development practice.
You are confident in managing complex course coordination tasks and have focus on preparing students for professional engineering practice.
You will demonstrate an enthusiasm for student learning and a positive attitude for developing effective teaching methods, a commitment to diversity and inclusion and an open-minded viewpoint, and embrace the University's commitment to Aotearoa, New Zealand's bicultural heritage and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
You work well with industry partners, maintaining project relevance and managing expectations.
You communicate effectively across multiple audiences, think critically, and work in a structured and organised manner.
You are comfortable delivering lectures and tutorials on design processes, project management, and professional conduct, and you support students with diverse needs in a respectful and timely way.
For the Lecturer (Teaching and Administration) rank, you will have extensive design or systems development expertise in the electrical, electronic, mechatronics, or software engineering industries.
You will hold a Bachelor of Engineering or a related field.
For the Lecturer and Senior Lecturer rank, you will be an early - mid career academic with industry experience and will be looking to establish and develop your research and teaching portfolio, setting yourself on track to enhance your academic career.
You will hold a PhD in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, although we will consider candidates who are awaiting to graduate from their doctoral studies in these fields.
