Learn to Swim Instructor | Manurewa Pools and Leisure CentreHe angitutanga: The opportunityAuckland Council's Pool & Leisure Centre's are looking for a Team Member Learn to Swim Instructor that focuses on working with babies and toddlers to work in our pools, giving swimming lessons.This is a fantastic 'foot-in-the-door' job if you are interested in getting involved in the Sport and Recreation industry.
You will work in the pool giving 'learn to swim' teaching lessons to groups of our community.
In this role you will get to work with people from all ages, starting at 6 months through to adults.Day-to-day you could expect to work on:Teaching babies and toddlers the basic principles of how to swim (we'll teach you how to do this!)Maintaining a fun, caring and safe environment for customers and visitorsBeing part of an amazing team serving your local communityWe have two exciting opportunities available:17 hour role:Monday – 3:15 to 7:15pmThursday – 3:00 to 7:00pmFriday – 3:00pm to 6:45pmSaturday – 8:45 to 1:45pm8 hour role:Sunday – 8:45 to 1:45pmTuesday – 3:15 to 6:45pmPlease note that shifts are subject to change according to the roster and the needs of the centre, so flexibility is essential.He korero mou: About youYou'll be a confident swimmer and an enthusiastic instructor with a genuine love for water and working with young children.
Exceptional customer service and clear communication skills are essential, as you'll be engaging with families and the wider community.This role is all about nurturing confidence and joy in the water for our littlest swimmers.
You'll be working closely withbabies, toddlers, and preschool-aged children, helping them feel safe, supported, and excited to learn.
If you have a gentle approach and a passion for early childhood development, this is a beautiful opportunity to make a splash in their learning journey.You should be comfortable being in and swimming in the water, and working will all members of the community.As this role works with children, you will need to be at least 16 years of age and have current first-aid certificate and swim teacher qualification.If you do not have a recognised swim teacher qualification, AUSTSWIM, or a current first-aid certificate, you will be required to attend the following two-week training between dates for training to be from 22 Sept to 3 October, Monday to Friday, at CBD and West Wave.Nga ahuatanga kei a matou: What we offerAs a Learn to Swim Instructor, you'll have free access to our facilities, hours that provides work and life balance, and above all else a fun, supportive team.
