    Based in stunning Northland, this role will support the Land Management Team to build high trust relationships with Tangata Whenua as part of the Hill Country Erosion Programme.

    This will be a 3 year fixed term position.

    The aim of our land management work is to support landowners to improve land management practices (especially soil conservation) and ultimately improve water quality in our rivers, lakes and streams.

    We are seeking someone with a strong knowledge of Tikanga, a proven ability to make lasting connections with iwi and hapū around the region and who enjoys being part of a team focused on delivering improvements in freshwater quality and Te Taiao.

    Do you have what it takes?

    We are looking for someone who can bring the following to our diverse talent pool:

  • Proven abilities in tangata whenua and community engagement.

  • Experience working with or within hapū or community groups or experience / training in nga tikanga Maori, te reo Maori and te ao Maori.
  • Four plus years’ experience in a position or role of relevance.

  • Confidence and experience communicating and engaging on marae and with communities 
  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and local government obligations as a Treaty Partner 
  • Full driver’s licence.

  • Experience in use of Microsoft applications especially Word, Excel and Outlook.
