Articulate, motivated and reliable, you will ideally have experience working in a lab or with a microscope.
**Responsibilities**The successful applicant will work closely with the Dunedin team to:* Process and identify macroinvertebrate samples from marine and/or freshwater environments in the customised taxonomy laboratory.
* Perform data collection, data entry and tabulation.
* Contribute to a range of lab processes, including the operation/maintenance of equipment.
**Skills and experience**To have an effective start to the role you will ideally have:* University qualifications in some element of environmental science or a minimum of two years relevant work experience.
* Experience in processing and accurately identifying benthic macroinvertebrates from New Zealand using identification keys.
* Experience with using stereo and compound microscopes.
* Experience with maintaining reference collections.
* Experience compiling data as well as maintaining data records and files.
* Willingness to develop marine and/or freshwater taxonomy skills (if not already present).
* Ability to work in a close team environment.
* Field work experience in freshwater and/or the marine environment would be advantageous.
* Excellent communication and reporting skills.
* A clean and active New Zealand driver's licence.
* New Zealand citizenship/working rights are essential.
