About the role
The Human Rights Commission is looking for a very special all-rounder, to be responsible for providing high-quality and responsive general administrative and IT support to staff and visitors in our Wellington office.
The role ensures the efficient and smooth running of the office, with our kaimahi and Commissioners well supported.
The role supports kaimahi with general office administrative processes and basic IT issues.
The role is also responsible for welcoming and onboarding new staff, coordinating office maintenance, supporting meetings and events, assisting with travel arrangements, carrying out our wellbeing, health & safety checks and providing manaakitanga for our guests.
This role is part of the Hiranga Topu team (Organisation Services) working collaboratively to deliver excellent, people-centred, and joined-up services founded on manaakitanga across the three functions of Pumanawa Tangata (People & Culture), Putea (Finance) and Hoahoa Ratonga (Organisation Support Services).
About you
Our ideal candidate is committed to quality service delivery, quick thinking, forward planning, is proactive, and always ensures that their tasks are completed to a high standard.
You will be able to juggle competing demands and multi-task in a busy environment, communicate well, enjoy a variety of tasks and can positively manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
To be successful in this role you will ideally have:
At least 2 years of office logistical support experience, or similar
Experience in secretarial support (e.g. minute taking and organising formal meetings)
Strong time-management skills and initiative
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an aptitude to learn new software and systems
A sound understanding of Information Technology, troubleshooting office IT equipment and Information Management
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Strong, proactive written and verbal communication skills
A commitment to being part of a Tiriti-based organisation
A willingness to be flexible and pitch in where needed
The understanding that this role requires being in the office
