Intermediate Triaxial Laboratory Technician
We are looking for a technician at intermediate level to join our team in Onehunga, Auckland.
This full-time permanent role is 37.5 hours per week and is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further their career in Triaxial Testing.
As a laboratory technician you will perform laboratory testing to a high level of accuracy.
The work is hands-on and physical, requiring a reasonable degree of physical capability, early starts, late finishes and occasional overtime.
Qualifications
Degree or diploma in Geography, Geology, Earth Sciences, Physical Science, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Physics or similar.
Typically 2-5 years in a geotechnical or civil engineering laboratory; less experience may be considered.
Capability to lift items weighing up to 15 kg on a regular basis.
Experience with basic hand tools and repair/maintenance of equipment.
Technical Skills
Triaxial testing apparatus operation, sample preparation, test conduct and data collection.
Data analysis, interpretation of results and report generation.
Familiarity with specialised geotechnical software.
Knowledge of health and safety protocols for laboratory work.

Accuracy and attention to detail in sample handling and measurement.
Organised and tidy laboratory environment.
Problem-solving skills for equipment malfunctions or unexpected results.
Teaching junior technicians technical and quality work skills.
Clear written and verbal communication of test results.

Other Desirable Attributes
Understanding of soil mechanics theory and triaxial testing application.
Excellent computer literacy for spreadsheets and lab software.
Quick learner, willing to pick up new skills rapidly.
