We collect and analyse intelligence and security concerns to protect New Zealand from threats such as foreign interference, espionage and terrorism.We're looking for people with a wide range of skills and qualities to join our team as experienced Intelligence Analysts.As an NZSIS Intelligence Analyst, you will be at the forefront of providing unique value to New Zealand's national security decision-makers through the delivery of critical intelligence and advice.
You will discover, assess and mitigate threats; investigate subjects of national security interest; and support operational activities to keep New Zealand and New Zealanders safe.
**Training and opportunities to specialise**This is a role with both variety and opportunities to specialise.
You'll receive a range of training along with structured placements in your first year.
As you progress in your career, you will rotate through a variety of analytic teams and functions, including:* Strategic and/or threat analysis* Investigations* Operational and tactical analysis.We are looking for experienced Intelligence Analysts with an interest in national security who want to make a difference and are driven by a sense of duty to others.
With a strong background in intelligence analysis, you will bring a deep understanding of analytical tradecraft and a demonstrated ability to apply your skills and experience to a variety of complex and challenging tasks.
The following qualities are important to us:* Existing (and relevant) intelligence training.
* Experience producing robust and impactful tactical, operational and/or strategic intelligence assessments, and a desire to develop expertise across all three areas.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and highly effective oral and written communication skills.
* Analytical and critical thinking skills with diversity of thought.
* Experience juggling competing priorities and resilience when working under pressure.
* Good judgement and initiative when working in dynamic and/or ambiguous situations* Demonstrated understanding of risk management principles, and experience identifying and managing risk and/or threat.
* A growth mind set and commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
* Keen self-awareness, with a strong understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses.
* Responsibility and accountability for their own work, with a willingness to challenge accepted positions and make objective decisions.
**Our selection process**If you are shortlisted and progressed through the selection process, you can expect to complete cognitive and psychometric testing, an assessment centre and interview.Successful applicants will start with us in **June ****.** All roles are Wellington-based.While we are primarily looking to fill experienced, intermediate-level roles, we have a limited number of Senior Intelligence Analysts positions available for people who can demonstrate the level of skill and experience required and have an established record of thought/practice leadership.The starting salary for this position is within the following ranges depending on your skills, experience and knowledge.
This is a multi-level position, allowing for career progression.
