Housing First Peer Support Worker Job Opening In Auckland – Now Hiring Lifewise Nz


Job description

Are you passionate about walking alongside others on their journey to stability, wellness, and connection?
Lifewise's Housing First team is looking for a Peer Support Worker with lived experience of homelessness, mental health and/or addictions to help support whanau towards permanent housing and a life of dignity.As someone with shared lived experience, you will help build trusting relationships with whanau, offering empathy, advocacy, and guidance.
You'll be a crucial part of the Housing First team, helping others navigate services and work toward their self-defined goals.
Key Responsibilities
Use your lived experience to establish trust and support whanau in their journey.
Provide intentional peer support alongside Housing First Key Workers.
Support whanau in accessing housing, healthcare, and community resources.
Attend and contribute to team meetings, supervision, and professional development.
Document whanau engagement and progress in Recordbase and other systems.
Lead and support onboarding and graduation processes for whanau.
You Will Bring
Essential lived experience with homelessness, mental health, and/or addictions.
Completion of a Peer Support Course – or willingness to complete Level 4 Health and Wellbeing (Peer Support stream), with support.
Strong boundaries, self-care practice, and understanding of peer support values.
Ability to relate and build rapport with diverse whanau.
Knowledge of social services and community resources in Aotearoa.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Awareness of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and cultural competence.
Basic tech skills and willingness to use systems like Recordbase.
Full driver's license (or actively working towards one).
