Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

The primary purpose of the role is to is to lead strategic construction and infrastructure sector / external stakeholder relationship management, in support of Commercial and Procurement's strategic objectives.

Acting as the conduit for IIG managers in two-way feedback on strategy development.

Note: Preference will be given to Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Wahi Ora candidates.

Mōu | About you

In this role you will have strategic insight into the capability and capacity of the supply chain to identify opportunities that align with the outcomes of Te Whatu Ora.

You will be responsible for leading and managing industry relationships at a strategic level to progress Te Whatu Ora as a client of choice, and providing a single voice for Te Whatu Ora with the construction sector on key strategic issues, including being a conduit for two-way feedback with the construction sector and the IIG.

You will liaise with New Zealand Government Procurement and Te Waihanga and other relevant government departments in developing best practice approaches including Broader Outcomes, and oversee the market engagement approaches undertaken across the regions to better understand market capability and capacity, as well as, use sector insights at a national level to provide input to commercial activities.

In addition, you will be required to liaise with central government agencies on current and emerging themes in the construction sector, as well as liaise with capital-intensive crown agencies to share knowledge, experiences and best practice.

Success in this role will see you bring a good mix of specialist skills and experience not limited to:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain and/or Procurement
  • Min 5 years' experience in establishing and/or implementing strategic supplier relationship management frameworks
  • Proven record in establishing a team that can work at a national level with the construction sectors supplier relationship managers
  • A solid understanding of the construction sector and supply chain
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of what influences the sectors we engage with
  • Ability to identify and use sector insights and data to support procurement and commercial activities
  • Experience in developing market engagement approaches
  • Experience in identifying, and establishing strategic partnerships
  • A sound understanding and experience of the end-to-end procurement lifecycle process, the New Zealand Government Procurement Rules and procurement best practice as they relate to construction and infrastructure
