OverviewOur WhyDatacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people's lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.About The RoleThe General Manager - Sales leads the overall Australia and New Zealand sales team for Datacom Data Centres, playing a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategy for Datacom's world-class data centre solutions, and driving growth in alignment with the company's broader vision.
You'll lead from the front—building, inspiring, and developing a high-performing team while working closely with colleagues across Sales, Go-to-Market, Product Management, Professional Services, and Customer Success to deliver exceptional customer experiences.In this role, you'll have the opportunity to accelerate Datacom Data Centres' market presence, expand revenue streams, and strengthen long-term client partnerships.
Beyond the numbers, you'll champion innovation, refine business practices, and create a culture of collaboration and accountability that ensures both your team and our customers thrive.What You'll BringDeep and broad understanding of the business and technology strategies in Data CentresStrong strategic background, with an ability to grasp the big pictureBroad technical knowledgeHigh level understanding of the unique business requirements of the organisationKnowledge of finance management practices, with a clear understanding of the relationship between costs, utilisation and project revenueStrong business acumenStrong sales and business development backgroundLeadership experience in sales or related teamExperience leading major bids teamsExtensive knowledge and experience in the enterprise software field10+ years of General Management experience in a senior commercial, IT or Data Centre environmentWhat You'll DoOwning the development and implementation of strategy for Data Centre sales, in line with broader Datacom strategyCollaborating with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectivesPlanning, personnel, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methodsDirecting and controlling the activities of own area of business, sometimes through managers within the teamSupporting Sales, Presales and Technical teams across Datacom ensuring an aligned go-to market approach focused on growth and mutual benefit between Datacom and our customersManaging the relationships with (and between) external agencies and suppliers, ensuring contracts and service levels are negotiated in line with strategic aims and financial constraints and ongoing service is in-line with agreed contractsMaking final decisions on administrative or operational matters, ensuring effective achievement of operational objectivesManagement of major sales according to the default or agreed assignment of opportunitiesDeveloping a wider breadth of knowledge across the industry or business, through involvement with recognised industry bodies both generic and specificAdhering to security policies and procedures including incident reporting and attending information security management trainings as requiredEnsuring budgets and schedules meet requirementsInteractions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the businessCulture And BenefitsDatacom is one of Australia and New Zealand's largest suppliers of Information Technology professional services.
