Wi Pere Trust's vision is to be innovative horticulture and agribusiness leaders, adding sustainable value for all.
This vision guides every aspect of the Trust's operations and leadership, shaping long-term goals and daily decision-making.
Wi Pere Trust farms sheep and cattle on over 6,700 hectares of steep hill country.
The horticultural business grows 80 hectares of apples, mandarins, gold and organic kiwifruit, blueberries and persimmons.

The Trustees and management maintain a strong awareness of emerging opportunities, consistently seeking better ways to grow and market produce.
We are now searching for a senior-level, dynamic business manager to take on the role of General Manager of our horticultural business.
Reporting directly to Wi Pere's Trustees and based in Gisborne, you will deliver the strategic plan by providing both strategic direction and operational leadership across our horticultural portfolio.
Most importantly, you will champion our values of kaitiaki-tanga (guardianship), communication, integrity, excellence and enjoyment throughout the business, embedding them in team culture, decision-making and operational practices to build a high performing team and ensure the Trust's legacy is nurtured and enhanced for Wi Pere's future generations.
Responsibilities
Drive strategy and innovation by leading the evaluation and adoption of new technologies and practices, shifting our investment to the production of high-value export crops.
Champion sustainable farming practices and environmental responsibility by embedding the principles of the 'Mauri Compass' in all initiatives.
You'll develop detailed Environmental Plans guided by Kaitiaki-tanga.
Ensure operational excellence by the delivery of best practice horticultural operations, robust financial management, comprehensive risk management, strict compliance to all relevant standards and oversight of our continuous improvement programme.
Represent Wi Pere Trust within the horticulture sector, building strategic relationships and influencing industry direction.
You'll build partnerships with research and technology organisations and other relevant industry stakeholders.
Competencies
Significant leadership experience in horticulture or agribusiness, with a proven ability to drive operational excellence and strategic growth.
Recognised knowledge of horticultural practices, market trends and regulatory frameworks, with the ability to stay ahead of industry developments.
Strong networks and active engagement within the horticulture industry, including the ability to participate in forums and collaborate with bodies such as Zespri and NZKGI.
Demonstrated ability to work with governance bodies, providing strategic insights and recommendations at board level.
Proven ability to lead with integrity and uphold organisational values across all levels.
Experience in building and leading high-performing, values-aligned teams.
Strong production focus with experience in yield optimisation, quality control, and sustainable crop management.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
A high level of financial & commercial literacy.
