Finance Planning Analyst – University of Auckland

Join to apply for the Finance Planning Analyst role at the University of Auckland.

This is a 12‑month fixed‑term opportunity reporting to the Revenue Analysis Manager, located in the Faculty of Arts & Education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders to monitor budgets and forecasts, delivering clear, actionable financial insights.

  • Ensure business cases are robust, data‑driven, and aligned with strategic goals.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial and operational processes, supporting continuous improvement.

  • Build strong relationships across the University, delivering excellent service and enhancing financial literacy.

  • Provide coaching and guidance to fellow analysts, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing team culture.

  • Uphold the University’s commitment to Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, modelling inclusive, equity‑focused behaviours.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Commerce or a relevant tertiary qualification, preferably with a major in accounting and taxation.

  • Membership of a professional accounting institute such as CAANZ, CPA, or an equivalent (preferred).

  • 1–2 years of senior technical advisory experience, including advanced financial and accounting software systems.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and a service‑oriented mindset.

  • Capacity to build relationships, work under pressure, meet demanding deadlines, and prioritise tasks effectively.

What we offer

We offer a competitive salary of $88,000–$99,800 per annum, up to 6.75% company superannuation, five weeks of annual leave with the option to buy or sell additional leave, flexible working arrangements, a generous parental leave policy, and inclusive benefits such as career development programmes, discounted car parking, on‑site childcare options, leisure facilities, and a range of discounted products and services.

In addition, the University provides a supportive working environment with partial work‑from‑home options and adaptive working hours.
