Milkyland Ltd , near Ashburton, is seeking Farm Assistant/Herd Manager to join our dairy team.

We milk 1,580 cows through an 80-bail automatic rotary on a 405 hactare farm with a strong focus on animal health, efficiency, and teamwork.

Job Description

Milkyland Ltd is seeking motivated individuals for the position of Farm Assistant or Herd Manager on our large-scale dairy operation located near Ashburton

Key Responsibilities

·         Milking 1,580 cows through our 80 bail automatic rotary, ensuring efficiency and cow              comfort

·         Monitoring cow health, identifying and addressing issues promptly

·         Assisting with calving, feeding, and routine animal husbandry

·         Maintaining cleanliness of facilities and equipment

·         Supporting pasture management and stock rotation

·         Recording production and health data accurately

·         Collaborating with farm managers, and other staff

·         Contributing to a positive team culture and safe working environment

Experience and Qualifications

Minimum Experience Required:

·         1 to 3 years in dairy farming or a related agricultural field

·         Experience with large herds and rotary milking systems preferred

·         Understanding of animal health and welfare best practices

·         Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with farm machinery

·         Commitment to teamwork and safety
