Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.
Health New Zealand - Waitemata is looking for suitably qualified specialist anaesthetists to join our team in permanent and fixed term roles starting February ****.
We also welcome expressions of interest for ****.
Health New Zealand Waitemata provides health care services to a population of around 640,000 people living in the North Shore, Waitakere and Rodney areas of Auckland New Zealand.
We have the largest population of all Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand districts, and we are growing our services to match.
We have two hospitals, North Shore Hospital and Waitakere Hospital, with four theatres suites.
Our brand new elective surgical facility, Totara Haumaru, with eight operating rooms on the NSH site opened in July **** and we require additional anaesthetists to accommodate this growth.
About the role:
There are a wide range of clinical subspecialties excluding cardiothoracic, neurosurgery and transplant surgery.
We have a Perioperative Medicine Service which includes CPET testing, and we are a training site for the ANZCA course in perioperative medicine.
We have acute, chronic and transitional pain services and welcome applicants with a fellowship or interest in pain medicine.
We have busy obstetric units at both hospitals, managing **** births per annum combined.
Waitemata is the only public hospital in New Zealand offering robotic surgery currently this is mainly robotic urology and upper GI surgery.
About the service:
The department has senior house officers, registrars, and fellows at all stages of the ANZCA training programme and we are looking for candidates with a commitment to teaching.
SMOs are generally onsite in the evenings and weekends to support the trainees with the significant acute workload.
This is covered by a call roster joining the call roster is expected for all appointees after an orientation period has been completed.
About you:
Successful candidates will have a broad scope of clinical skills, commitment to continuing medical education, and a focus on quality improvement.
FANZCA or equivalent qualification is required and vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council is essential.
