About the Project
The Ōtaki to North of Levin (Ō2NL) highway will dramatically improve safety, resilience, and efficiency, while increasing transport choices for a growing population.

The project is being delivered in partnership with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, Muaūpoko Tribal Authority, local hapū of Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga, and Horowhenua District Council.
This is a transformative infrastructure project being delivered using a two-alliance model.

About the Role
The Engineering Manager is a key leadership position within the Ōtaki to North of Levin (Ō2NL) South Alliance project.

You will drive the delivery of sound and compliant design management practices, ensuring engineering solutions meet construction needs and project objectives.

The role focuses on aligning design outputs with construction delivery, managing design-related risks, and leading the Temporary Works process to support safe and efficient project outcomes.

This role is a fixed-term position until December 2028.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the integration of permanent works designs to meet construction requirements
  • Oversee structured design reviews to ensure constructability and practical detailing
  • Proactively manage design changes, risks, and scope creep, maintaining traceability and cost awareness
  • Act as Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC), ensuring robust management and compliance with TWfNZ standards
  • Champion best practices in Health, Safety, and Environmental management throughout design and construction
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with project standards, procedures, and relevant regulations
  • About you
  • Tertiary qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering (Washington Accord accredited BE or equivalent)
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or actively working towards accreditation is preferred
  • Minimum 10 years’ post-graduate experience in infrastructure delivery, including 5 years in senior engineering leadership or design management
  • Proven track record managing design on major infrastructure projects and D&C contracts
  • Strong background in temporary works design and management, with solid understanding of ground engineering and risk control
