Job description

We have an exciting full-time opportunity for someone to join our team as an Emergency Management Planning Advisor at the Taranaki Emergency Management Office (TEMO), employed through the New Plymouth District Council.

To complement the talents of the current team, we are looking for the following:

  • A passion for working with diverse communities to improve preparedness and social connectedness
  • Project management experience to lead and deliver planning requirements, hazard assessment, risk mitigation approaches and strategic recovery
  • Proven strategic documentation preparation, implementation and delivery, including response and recovery planning
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to seek out and create successes in an ambiguous and sometimes, unstructured environment
  • An innovative and lateral thinker and, when required, can work under pressure in an operational setting
  • Experienced working in teams/building effective working relationships being positive and focused on innovative solutions
  • New Plymouth District Council provides related services, including employing Group Office staff, on behalf of the TEMO.

    To be successful, you will have excellent oral and written communication skills, be experienced with documentation, and have knowledge of legislation applicable to civil defence, emergency management and local government.

    Ideally, you will have a minimum of four years' experience in a relevant field.
