We have an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced Industrial Electrical Technician based in our Nelson Office.
This is a permanent position with a long-term commitment.

Key Responsibilities
- Install and Maintain Electrical Systems: Install, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial electrical systems, including wiring, control panels, motors, and other equipment, ensuring compliance with New Zealand electrical standards and regulations.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
- Diagnose and Repair Faults: Identify and troubleshoot electrical issues in machinery, control systems, and other equipment, performing repairs or replacements as needed.
- Read and Interpret Schematics: Analyze electrical schematics and technical diagrams to install, repair, or modify systems and components.
- Ensure Safety Compliance: Follow safety regulations, including lockout/tagout procedures, to maintain a safe working environment.
- Program and Maintain PLCs: Configure, program, and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and automated control systems.
- Test Electrical Systems: Use testing equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and thermal imagers to verify system performance and integrity.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work with maintenance teams, engineers, and production staff to coordinate repairs, upgrades, and installations, minimizing operational disruptions.
- Document Work Performed: Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections, updating logs and reporting issues.
- Upgrade Systems: Assist in designing and implementing electrical system upgrades to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Perform Additional Duties: Undertake other tasks as directed by supervisors to support the team and meet objectives.
About You
Qualifications:
- New Zealand Electrical Registration with a current Practising Licence.
- Full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
Technical Skills:
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across OEM equipment.
- Experience in PLC programming and automation systems.
- Advanced motor control knowledge, including VSDs and Soft Starters.
- Proficiency in instrumentation and control systems.
- Solid mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage tasks efficiently.
