Te Turanga | About the role
We're looking for a Development Engineer who's passionate about making sure Tauranga grows in a safe, smart, and sustainable way.

If you enjoy working with people, solving problems, and making a real impact on your city, this could be the role for you.
You'll be reviewing building consent applications and development proposals to make sure they meet engineering standards and legal requirements.

You'll work closely with planners, asset managers, and other teams to make sure new developments are safe, well-designed, and built to last.
Your work will help ensure:
Safe building sites and landforms
Quality infrastructure for new developments
Risks like natural hazards are properly managed
Developers and customers get clear, expert advice
You'll also:
Monitor construction work and provide feedback
Keep our systems up to date with technical info
Help resolve any disputes or complaints
Support improvements to how we work
Nga Pukenga | What you'll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you'll bring;
A degree in Civil Engineering (Level 7 or equivalent)
A good understanding of geotechnical issues, infrastructure development, and the Building Act
Great communication skills and a collaborative approach
Confidence in making decisions and giving expert advice
