Our WhyDatacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people's lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.Here at Datacom Data Centres' we connect people and technology in order to solve challenges, create opportunities and discover new possibilities for the communities we live in.We are looking for people with practical skills that want to be part of an exciting business with new challenges and new people.We provide comprehensive training to develop your technical and professional skills, and a career pathway to explore the skills needed for other roles.E whakarato ana matou ki te whakangungu i o pukenga hangarau, pukenga ngaio, me te whakarite huarahi kia torohia nga pukenga e hiahia ana mo turanga ke atu.Our policy is to promote from within, enabling opportunities for advancing your career.Ko ta matou kaupapa here he tautinei mai i roto, kia whakawhanui i nga aheinga kia kokiri ai to umanga.About the Role (your why)The role is based at our Hamilton, Kapua Data Centre and involves a rotating shift pattern with night and day shift work.The 24x7 Data Centre Technician performs a large number of remote hands and first level support tasks including installation of customer equipment, cables and cabling infrastructure.We will train you to undertake scheduled and ad hoc tasks set out by the 24x7 Operations Manager and work alongside a team of site leads and operators to provide the highest standards in operational deliverables.What you'll doComplete and contribute to the Data Centre training programmeSupport the Data Centre Team with Batch Services: Operating batch processes, monitoring alerts and escalating issues.Provide first level support and hands and eyes services to our Data Centre customersEnsure health and safety requirements are adhered to.Provide consistent and excellent management of data centre assets.Delivery of customer facing activities and fostering customer relationshipsInstallation and/or management of Data Centre infrastructure including power systems, IT and telecommunications equipment, cabling and server racks.Ensure adherence to (and documentation of) existing and new standards relating to customer changeCompletion of all operational tasks assigned to you in a timely manner and communication of status.Data Centre incident managementEnsuring all Datacom security objectives are strictly adhered to.Being part of a culture of continuous improvement, seeking out efficiencies, service improvements, and new ways of workingPlease note to meet our security requirements applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.What you'll bringFlexibility to work a rotating shift pattern (day and night shift).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Confidence to work alone and in a small team.Able to trouble shoot customer and technical issuesAble to remain calm under pressureComfortable to work at heights (up to 4m)Able to complete repeatable processes in a timely and accurate mannerWorking knowledge of Microsoft application suitePrevious IT experience is preferred but not required for this role.Why join us here at Datacom?
