The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various types of cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment on construction sites, industrial facilities, or other locations.

Responsibilities:
Crane Operation: Safely operate a variety of cranes, including mobile cranes, tower cranes, gantry cranes, and others, as required by the job site.
Health and Safety: Adhere strictly to all company health and safety policies, and comply with all relevant New Zealand legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act **** and associated regulations.
Conduct thorough pre-start checks (pre-operational inspections) of the crane and rigging gear to ensure safe working order.
Load Management: Accurately calculate and verify load weights, assess lifting conditions, and determine appropriate lifting procedures.
Ensure all loads are correctly slung, balanced, and secured to prevent accidents.
Communication: Maintain effective communication with dogmen (riggers), slingers, and other site personnel using approved hand signals, two-way radios, and other communication methods.
Maintenance & Inspections: Conduct routine maintenance tasks and visual inspections, such as checking fluid levels, wire ropes, and safety devices.
Promptly report any mechanical faults, defects, or required repairs to the site supervisor.
Site Management: Position the crane correctly and safely on the job site, considering ground conditions, overhead power lines, and other environmental hazards.
Ensure outriggers are properly deployed and matting is used where required.
Documentation: Maintain accurate daily logs of operations, inspections, and any incidents or near-misses.
Problem-Solving: Proactively identify potential risks and operational issues, and implement appropriate solutions in collaboration with the site team.
Requirements and Skills:
Level 4 NZ Certificate in Crane Operation (Advanced Crane Operation) or equivalent, or at least three years of relevant experience.
A full New Zealand Class 2, 3, 4, or 5 driver's licence with the appropriate W (wheels), T (tracks), or R (rollers) endorsement or equivalent.
Proficient in reading and interpreting load charts, crane manuals, and lift plans.
Strong knowledge of rigging and signalling techniques.
Comprehensive understanding of crane mechanics, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
A deep understanding of New Zealand's health and safety legislation and industry best practices for crane operation.
Ability to work long hours in the crane cab, often in varied weather conditions.
Excellent hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and spatial awareness.
Ability to work at heights and in physically demanding environments.
Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of precision.
Strong decision-making skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Current SiteSafe or ConstructSafe Passport is an advantage.
Be willing to undergo random drug tests while employed.
Must be an NZ Citizen, NZ Resident, or eligible to work in NZ.
The successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in different locations (Auckland, Waikato, and the Bay of Plenty), providing a unique chance to explore New Zealand's diverse regions.
This is a full-time permanent role, with an hourly pay rate of between NZ$26 and NZ$35, depending on experience and qualifications.
The work hours range from a minimum of 30 to a maximum of 70 hours per week, to be worked between Monday and Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
You may be required to work on weekends.
