Job description

George Grant Engineering (GGE) is a trusted name in structural steel fabrication and erection across New Zealand.
We're looking for an experienced and safety-focused Crane Operator to join our erection team on commercial construction projects.
About the Role
This hands-on role involves operating mobile cranes to lift, position, and install structural steel components on complex commercial sites.
You'll work closely with our riggers, site supervisors, and crane coordinator to deliver safe, efficient lifting operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operate mobile cranes for steel erection in accordance with lift plans.
Conduct daily pre-starts, safety checks, and maintenance logs.
Work closely with rigging teams to execute lifts safely and accurately.
Follow direction from the Crane Coordinator and Site Foreman.
Adhere to GGE's health & safety policies and commercial site protocols.
What We're Looking For
New Zealand Permanent Resident or Citizen.
Proven experience operating mobile cranes on commercial construction sites.
Current and valid Crane Operator licence (NZQA Unit Standards).
Familiarity with lifting plans and site-specific crane operations.
Strong communication skills in English.
SiteSafe Passport, EWP, and Working at Heights certifications.
Understanding of H&S regulations and expectations on top-tier NZ sites.
Team-oriented, adaptable, and calm under pressure.
