ODIM provides support and maintenance for multiple monitoring platforms within the business.
ODIM engineers will investigate and resolve data quality issues in the system, provide support to internal users and projects using the information contained in the system and work within the system to identify energy efficiency improvement opportunities.ResponsibilitiesRespond to internal customer requests for information arising from their use of Data Center SmartViewInteract with the operation engineers at each Data Center location to be cognizant of maintenance and operations which may cause unusual operating conditionsVerify the accuracy of data presented in Data Center SmartView and supporting systemsTroubleshoot all elements of the controls system, including field devices, controllers, network components and software systems as necessary to resolve data quality issuesProvide support for equipment additions, changes and deletions within the systemAssist in the design of new features which improve usability of Smart ViewMaintain and develop training materials for internal and external usersProvide training to internal and external usersAct as a subject matter expert for the Data Center SmartView systemUtilize Smartview to identify operational efficiency improvement opportunities and work with the regional and Data Center engineering teams to implement solutions to opportunities identifiedUpdate the system configuration in response to infrastructure equipment additions, moves, changes or deletionsUtilizes safe working practices at an expert level (e.g. can apply procedure for lockout/tagout, can explain MSDS, etc.Evaluates and assures the safe working practices of others.
Interacts with other engineering disciplinesProblem SolvingConsistently solves complex, cross-functional issues requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolveMakes recommendations for system level enhancements to eliminate potential problemsTests suitability of components for deploymentsInternal/External ContactContributes to mentoring junior team membersConsults with internal and external project team membersExpert level communication to include cross functional SOP development and relevant technical writingCommunicates effectively with both internal teams and Equinix customersTechnical ExpertiseHas expert controls system knowledgeIs a subject matter expert to others in and outside of the groupExtensive knowledge of multiple facets of controls engineeringTests suitability of components or action plans for deploymentsTrainingAcquires knowledge by expanding experience with systems, vendor training, participation in industry groups or meetings and shadowing othersIs subject matter expert with many systems and trains others inside and outside of the groupQualifications5+ years in control system design, operations, maintenance, and project planning with a emphasis and special focus on controls preferredBachelors degree preferredDemonstratable experience in control system design, operations, maintenance, and project planning with emphasis & special focus on controlsAbility to effectively communicate with internal and external customersCapable of reviewing power reports and provide guidance on data correctionAdvanced building management system (BMS) or energy management system (EMS) operation skillsMust understand the electrical topologies commonly found in data centersMust be able to interpret system control strategies and architecture using Sequence of Operation (SOO) and P&ID drawings, SAMA diagrams or equivalentMust have excellent troubleshooting skillsKnowledge of the BACnet, Modbus and OPC communications protocols including protocol definition, implementation strategies and troubleshooting as well as experience with data collection and conversion software such as Kepware, Matricon, TopView, OSISoft Pi is beneficialExperience identifying and implementing operational efficiency improvement initiatives is desiredMay include executive level communications in standardized templatesTechnical ExpertiseHas a full thorough understanding of typical electrical, fire protection, and HVAC system operation including typical optimization strategies and typical deficienciesHas expert controls system knowledge, typically confined to a few brands of systemIs a subject matter expert to others in the groupParticipates by presenting at internal and/or external engineering seminars/conferencesTrainingAcquires knowledge by expanding experience with systems, vendor training and shadowing othersIs SME with some systems and trains others inside and outside of the groupDevelop Policy/MethodsParticipates in review of policy and procedure documentsAssess Adherence to PolicyAssures adherence to developed standards and policy through review of documentation, participation in commissioning activities and Data Center physicalsEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
