We are looking for a new recruit to join our Regulatory Compliance team at Bay of Plenty Regional Council, as a Compliance Officer, specialising in assessing and managing electronic and manual water abstraction data.
This is a permanent role, working 40 hours per week and it can be based in your choice of our offices; Tauranga, Whakatane or Rotorua.
About the role
There will be plenty of variety in this role including:
Assess compliance on water abstraction data to ensure it meets consent conditions, including carrying out non-compliance actions where required.
Responsible for updating the automated compliance processor, including data entry.
Extract and quality check water use data and provide to internal and external customers.
Carry out site inspections to assess compliance with relevant on-site resource consent conditions.
Implementation of any new legislation affecting water takes e.g. Resource Management (Measurement and Reporting of Water Takes) Regulations ****.
Advise on submission logistics and accuracy of Water Use Data via telemetry including liaising with 3rd party data providers.
Carry out general compliance duties as required.
Your skills and experience
Along with a passion for your work, you will have:
A bachelor's degree in environmental management with experience in data analysis/management OR a qualification in data analysis/management with relevant environmental management experience.
Proven ability to work confidently with large and complex datasets.
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
A keen eye for detail and an analytical thinker who enjoys piecing together data to form clear conclusions.
Motivated and disciplined to connect the dots to build a complete picture from different information sources.
Experience in enforcement action or regulatory compliance including direct and difficult conversations with consent holders.
Hold a full New Zealand driver's licence.
The ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
