Community Support Worker - Permanent Reliever - North Auckland

Spectrum Care is seeking a dedicated Community Support Worker for Birkdale House in North Shore.

The role supports adults with intellectual and physical disabilities, ensuring a calm, safe environment and fostering independence.

Location: Birkdale, North Shore
Hours: 32 per week (part‑time)
Salary: $23.50 – $29.10 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with feeding, bathing, toileting and personal care.

  • Prepare and support the preparation of nutritious meals.

  • Encourage and support participation in daily activities and community engagement.

  • Maintain a calm, respectful environment and ensure safety at all times.

  • Communicate effectively with residents, families and multidisciplinary staff.

Ideal Candidate

  • Empathy for the challenges of living with a disability.

  • Calm, resilient and calm in all situations.

  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written English is mandatory.

  • Willingness to support motivation with daily living skills.

  • Full New Zealand driver’s licence and pass a New Zealand police check.

  • Ability to use a computer (Word, Internet Explorer, email).

  • Interest in attaining a Community Support Worker Level Three or above qualification.

Requirements (Non‑Resident)

  • Three years experience in the care workforce or a minimum level 4 qualification on the NZQCF.
