Community Support Worker - Choices In Community Living - North AucklandPart Time, 14 hours$***** - $***** per hourGulf Harbour,Auckland locationWe have more than 300 worksites and support options across the whole Auckland region from Warkworth to Waiuku.InChoices in CommunityLiving, we provide services for adults with physical and intellectual disabilities within their own homes and out into their community.
We provide 1:1 support which consists of a range of hours between 6am to 9pm Monday to Sunday.As a Community Support Worker you take on tasks that are dynamic and will depend on the needs and dreams of each person.
You provide assistance with daily activities such as community participation, socializing, work or education, personal cares and domestic chores, as well as responsibility for reporting and administration.Skills & ExperienceEmpathy for the challenges of trying to build an ordinary life while living with a disabilityEnergy to keep up with someone who likes to be on the go a lotAbility to remain calm, and calming, in all situationsResilience to help people keep boundaries to ensure their safetyGood at explaining and negotiatingAbility to communicate effectively and supportively with family, colleagues and the person you supportAbility and willingness to provide support and motivation with personal cares and daily living skillsExcellent, clear, understandable verbal and written English is a pre-requisite to be considered for this roleThe ideal candidate will have:An interest in attaining a Community Support Worker Level Three or above qualification- we can support you to achieve this while you workExperience supporting people with disabilities, and or mental health issues, and/or behaviours that can be challenging is desirable but not necessaryReliability, commitment, and passion for working with peopleA full New Zealand driver's licenceAble to pass a NZ police checkThe ability to use a computer effectively, including programs such as Word, Internet Explorer, and emailIf you're interested in supporting people to develop self-confidence and independence, and live their lives of choice, lives like any other, in their own communities, then we want to hear from you today!
