Job description

New Zealand Steel, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueScope, manufactures and markets a range of flat rolled steel products for the building, construction, manufacturing and agricultural sectors.

You may know us for our flagship COLORSTEEL® brand.

What you will be doing

We are on the lookout for two enthusiastic and safety conscious operators to join our motivated cold mill team.

The main responsibility of an operator is to maintain our exceptional product standards and the continued smooth running of our operations, training to safely operate the plant and equipment will be provided to the right candidates, this is a 3-month fixed term role.

This is an 8hr day Monday – Friday position however to ensure that operational requirements are met, you may be required to work additional hours when needed.

What you will bring to the role

Along with the ability to learn the required skills on the job and produce high quality work in a timely manner, the successful applicants will need to have:

  • A willingness to undertake manual handling work, a reasonable level of physical fitness is required
  • People with great communication skills – verbal and written
  • Excellent computer literacy
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Positive attitude, ability, and willingness to take ownership of your work
  • Proven good attendance and work history
  • Experience operating forklifts and/or cranes would be an advantage
  • Recent cold finishing working experience would be an advantage

    • You will need to demonstrate a commitment to teamwork along with a willingness to positively contribute to a diverse and inclusive work environment and an uncompromising attitude towards health and safety.
