Class 4 Civil Construction Driver/Operator Job Opening In Auckland – Now Hiring Tradestaff


Job description

Class 4 Hiab Driver – Civil Labouring
We’re looking for a skilled and reliable Class 4 Hiab Driver to join a busy civil team based in Takanini.

You’ll be operating Class 4 trucks for material transport and using the Hiab for safe, efficient lifting and loading.

This role also includes hands-on site work and travel to different locations across New Zealand — ideal for someone who enjoys variety and teamwork.

Location: Takanini and travel to varied sites in Auckland
Start date: Immediate start available
Pay rate: $32–33 per hour (paid weekly)
Key duties:
  • Operate Class 4 trucks for transport and delivery of materials, equipment, and supplies
  • Use Hiab for safe and efficient lifting, loading, and unloading on-site or for delivery
  • Assist with site preparation, material handling, and support other team members as needed
  • Perform pre-start checks on vehicles and equipment to ensure safe operation
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, following all health and safety guidelines
  • Assist with general labouring tasks or other duties as required by the site supervisor
  • Other duties may include:
  • Excavation using hydro-vac equipment for precise digging and debris removal
  • Utility and pipeline maintenance, exposing underground assets safely
  • Cleanup and spill response using vacuum systems
  • Drain and sewer cleaning with high-pressure water jets
  • Emergency response for floods, spills, or natural disasters
  • Regular equipment maintenance and inspection
  • To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
  • Full NZ Class 4 licence
  • Proven experience driving Class 4 vehicles and operating a Hiab
  • Physically fit and capable of manual labour
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures
  • Flexibility to travel for work overnight across New Zealand (travel allowance provided)
