Job description

We’re looking for a motivated and reliable Class -2 Civil Construction Driver/Operator to join a busy team based in Takanini.

This role involves operating vehicles and machinery, supporting civil and drilling projects, and assisting with a range of site-based tasks.

You’ll travel to different sites each day, so flexibility and a strong work ethic are essential.

Location: Takanini (travel to varied sites across New Zealand)
Start date: Immediate start available
Hours: 5:00am – 5:00pm- 
Pay rate: $32–33 per hour (paid weekly)
Key duties:

  • Operate civil construction vehicles and machinery
  • Assist drilling and civils teams on-site projects
  • Support micro tunnelling operations (training provided)
  • Transport materials, tools, and equipment safely
  • Carry out daily machine checks and basic maintenance
  • Follow all site safety procedures and compliance standards
  • Assist with groundworks, trenching, and site preparation
  • Work collaboratively with crew to meet project deadlines
  • Perform pre-start checks on vehicles and equipment
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Help with general labouring tasks as directed
  • Other duties may include:
  • Excavation using hydro-vac equipment for precise digging
  • Utility and pipeline maintenance and exposure work
  • Cleanup and spill response using vacuum systems
  • Drain and sewer cleaning with high-pressure water jets
  • Emergency response for floods, spills, or natural disasters
  • Regular maintenance and inspection of hydro-vac equipment
  • To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
  • Full NZ Class 2 licence (with ability to progress to Class 4–5)
  • Experience in civil construction or related work
  • Knowledge of Axis machinery or open to learning 
  • Physically fit and capable of manual labour
  • Strong focus on safety and teamwork
  • Flexibility to travel for work (travel allowance provided)
