Pastry Chef

Te Pae Christchurch is proudly managed by Legends Global, Asia Pacific’s leading venue management company and one of the world’s premier convention and exhibition management specialists.
An exciting opportunity for an experienced chef to join our team.
Reporting to the Pastry Sous Chef, the Pastry Chef de Partie will be responsible for assisting in the production of all pastry items and desserts at Te Pae Christchurch.
Key Duties
- Assist in all day-to-day aspects of the pastry section of the kitchen.
- Prepare a wide variety of goods such as, but not limited to, plated desserts, petit fours, cakes and breads following traditional and modern recipes and techniques.
- Show world-class technique, presentation and flavour on a large scale.
- Work with the Pastry Sous Chef in the design of menus.
- Standardise production recipes, cooking methods and techniques to ensure consistent quality and presentation.
- Ensure that food safety standards, preparation, presentation, and cooking techniques are established and monitored to meet the Te Pae Christchurch requirements.
- Be innovative and resourceful with a hands-on approach to the kitchen team’s training and development.
- Maintain food safety records as per the safe food procedures.
- Follow through on with any dietary requirements requested for events.

The successful candidate will:
- Have a minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
- Be well organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication skills at all levels.
- Have the ability to maintain safety standards and to abide by HACCP.
- Have the ability to work under pressure.
