About the Role
This senior-level Business Lead role supports the Director of Performance & Funding by coordinating a work programme that upholds the values of manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga, and rangatiratanga, and advances Māori aspirations.

Acting as a pae manaaki across the directorate, the role involves strategic leadership, advisory, and business support functions.

Key responsibilities include managing briefings and ministerial responses, enhancing Te Tiriti o Waitangi capability, fostering strategic alliances within Health New Zealand guiding teams in delivering sector-leading advice, overseeing risk management, and leading operational and administrative support across the groups.
About the Team/Service/ Location
As the Hauora Māori Service of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ) our core role is to ensure New Zealanders have better and more timely access to health care.

The devolution of resources and decision making to the regions ensures those closest to service users and whānau are involved in decisions on how healthcare is delivered.

We are committed to ensuring our operating model is responsive to the needs of Māori.


About you
You are an experienced advisory professional with a proven ability to lead projects and initiatives.

A strong communicator, you excel at managing relationships across all levels, including with senior officials and health sector leaders.

With a deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and frameworks, you bring the capability to embed tikanga Māori and te ao Māori values into organisational practices.
You will bring:
* A minimum of 7 years' experience, particularly in roles involving senior leadership and decision-makers
* Demonstrated ability to operate within medium to large, complex organisations, ideally within government or the health sector
* Strong knowledge and practical application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches
* Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in the health sector considered an advantage
