Overview

Join our Book Shop Stock Coordinator Team! Our book shop in Papaioea | Palmerston North, REaD Books, is looking for a Stock Coordinator.

This is a great opportunity for someone who likes organising and loves books!

Role Description

In this role, you will take responsibility for stock management in one of our Red Cross Book Shops.

This includes managing donations of books, allocation of stock for the book sale, book shop, retail shop and storage of books ready for the book sale.

This role will ensure that all volunteers are kept informed of activities and procedures and will work closely with our book shop team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is great with numbers, organised and loves books!

In this location, we're looking for someone who can attend monthly meetings with our local Branch.

Can you commit to undertaking this role for at least six months?

  • Regular half day shifts - 4 hours
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 10am-1pm - 1pm- 4 pm
  • Saturday 10am-1pm

In this role you will be ensuring Volunteers are informed of the correct procedures and following these procedures.

Your tasks

  • Management of book donations
  • Overseeing the sorting of stock to our book shop, book sale and retail shop
  • Supporting a team of volunteers

Volunteer requirements and training

This role requires someone who:

  • has stock control experience
  • has good communication and problem-solving skills
  • enjoys working with a group of dedicated volunteers
  • loves books

Guidance, training and support will be provided by our Red Cross team.

Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW)

  • Make sure your actions (or lack of actions) don’t harm your health, safety and wellbeing, or harm anyone else
  • Take part in a HSW induction, training, programmes and activities
  • Follow all instructions given to you about health, safety and wellbeing
  • Follow all NZRC HSW policies, standards and procedures about health, safety and wellbeing
  • Make sure you have the right training for any activities you are doing
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) for any work activities that may need it to stay safe
  • If you spot a hazard, or you are involved in an incident or near miss, report this straight away

Min age: 18 years

Training: 1 to 4 hours

Vetting: New Zealand Police – working with children/young people
