Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Asbestos Analyst to join our team in Auckland, New Zealand.
In this role, you will be responsible for conducting thorough asbestos analysis and maintaining laboratory accreditations whilst adhering to strict quality assurance standards.
Perform bulk identification, asbestos in soil analysis (both P/A and S/Q), and fibre counting in the laboratoryEnsure equipment and compliance systems are maintained in accordance with ISO standardsAdhere to the conditions of ISO 17025 at all timesAssist with technical and quality tasks as requiredAct as a training mentor for internal staffParticipate in internal and third-party proficiency testing programmes and ensure satisfactory results are achievedContribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes and proceduresMaintain accurate and detailed records of all analyses and tests performedCollaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standardsStay up-to-date with the latest developments in asbestos analysis techniques and safety regulationsQualifications
Tertiary qualification in Science or equivalent qualification/experienceMinimum of two years' experience in asbestos analysis, including bulk identification, fibre counting, and soil analysisDemonstrated knowledge of ISO 17025 standards and their application in a laboratory settingProficiency in using standard office applications, particularly MS Word and MS ExcelStrong attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy in all workExcellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficientlyProven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environmentCommitment to maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to health and safety regulationsDesire to continually learn and improve professional skills and knowledgeExperience as a Key Technical Person (KTP) for asbestos analytical methods is highly desirableQualifications or experience as an asbestos consultant would be advantageousFamiliarity with relevant New Zealand health and safety regulations related to asbestos handling and analysisStrong written and verbal communication skills in EnglishAdditional Information
