Arts and Culture Programmer (Studio One Toi Tū & Te Oro) Job Opening In Auckland – Now Hiring Auckland Council

We are the team that drives arts and culture activities in local communities – ensuring Aucklanders gain real benefit from their engagement with the arts.

As the Arts and Culture Programmer for Central and East we want you to help shape and deliver the programmes across our arts venues that engage with the community and underpin Local Board strategy.

The role is a permanent, 40 hour a week role .

The role will work directly with two Arts and Culture venues and support the wider Central/East Community Delivery Unit.

You’ll support development and delivery of engaging programmes alongside local communities for Studio One Toi Tū in Ponsonby and Te Oro in Glen Innes.

He kōrero mōu: About you

You will have developed and maintained an awareness of contemporary arts and culture, public programmes and event production.

You will also understand best practice and current and forthcoming trends locally, regionally and nationally.

You will be responsible for engaging with local networks, artists and creative Aucklanders and community groups alike, supporting engagement and helping to build capacity in the creative community.

You’ll utilise your passion for the arts to shape the creative programme at these two arts facilities from idea through into delivery phase, with an emphasis on visual and performing arts.

Successful applicants will have demonstrated in their CV and covering letter:

  • Proven programming expertise in at least one discipline, audience segment or delivery channel within arts and culture.

  • Leadership of creative programmes with proven mastery of the art of balancing creative and community needs.

  • Creative project‑management experience and the ability to work across teams, locations and communities.

  • Comfortable working in fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environments with competing priorities.

We are expecting to appoint the successful applicant at a salary from $75k to $80k depending upon experience.
