Job Description
Origin Heritage is a dynamic architectural and heritage consultancy practice with offices in Arrowtown and Dunedin.
Our team handles a diverse range of projects, from commercial and residential architecture to heritage conservation, building surveying, and archaeology.
We are currently seeking a full-time Architectural Technician for a fixed-term parental leave cover, immediate start to Oct / Nov 2026.
This position can be based in either our Dunedin or Arrowtown office.
Primary responsibility will be providing draughting support to the principal architect/director and senior architectural designer.
The ideal candidate will bring the following skills and attributes:
•An architectural qualification: Completed Bachelor of Architecture / Master of Architecture Degree; Architectural Technician Degree; New Zealand Certificate of Draughting; or similar qualifications.
• At least 2 years of experience in an architectural office/role in New Zealand.
• Experience in draughting and preparing Resource Consent & Building Consent documentation, including construction drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with the NZ Building Code, relevant NZ Standards, and legislation.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (knowledge of Twinmotion beneficial).
• Strong presentation and technical draughting skills.
• Attention to detail and a high standard of diligence in all work.
• Self-motivated with excellent time management skills; able to manage tasks independently while maintaining strong communication with the team.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• A positive, enthusiastic attitude, with a team-oriented mindset and an eagerness for continuous learning.
• A genuine interest in heritage buildings and traditional building materials.
• Willingness to become an integral part of a small, friendly office, where you will be involved in all aspects of the practice’s diverse work.
• Current, full NZ driving license.
