About the position
Lead development of AI-powered remote sensing pipelines to support climate and environmental research across NZ.
This position sits within the NIWA business unit of Earth Sciences New Zealand.

• Architect cloud/HPC pipelines for remote sensing analytics
• Collaborate with top scientists to solve climate and data challenges
Key responsibilities include:
Architecting cloud-native and HPC-integrated remote sensing pipelines
• Supporting researchers with workflow development and training
• Driving innovation in AI applications for Earth observation
• Leading capability development and strategic planning
• Ensuring seamless data flow across platforms and teams
Salary Range - $86,000 - $185,000
Full-time position located in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch, New Zealand

What you'll bring
A qualification in STEM or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in remote sensing or related fields
• Demonstrated experience with HPC, cloud, and AI frameworks
• In-depth knowledge of GIS tools and multidimensional data formats
• Strong Python, R, or shell scripting skills
