As an Advanced Support Worker at Access Community Health/Uru Ātea, you'll play a vital role in evaluating, training, and supporting our general support workforce.
This position blends community-based and office-based responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to lead, mentor, and enhance the quality of care for our clients.
Shift patterns include flexible split-shifts, alternate weekend work and overnights.
Ngā mahi | What you'll be doing
Community-Based Assessments
- Evaluate support workers' care practices (e.g., handwashing, moving and handling).
- Provide in-field guidance to improve skills and ensure compliance with policies.
- Organise and lead workshops to enhance worker competencies.
- Collaborate with care coordination and clinical teams.
Advanced Client Care
- Deliver complex care and specialised tasks (training provided).
Team Development
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to less experienced workers.
- Positive, can-do attitude—experience in behaviour management is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (training provided).
- Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., Palliative Care, Home-Based Nursing, Support Worker Coordination).
- Must have a full or restricted New Zealand driver's licence.
- Level 4 Health and Wellbeing Certificate (or equivalent), or Level 3 with a plan to complete Level 4.
- Careerforce Assessor Qualification is a plus.
- At least 12 months' proven experience in a Support Worker role
