Santa Maria College is a Catholic Girls’ Secondary School with more than 800 students (Year 7–12).
The college is an International Baccalaureate global school offering the Middle Years Program for Years 7–10 and is committed to safety, wellbeing, inclusion and restorative practices.
This is a fixed term, part-time role (0.78 FTE) to cover leave and focuses on Design Technology and Visual Communication for Junior Year 7–10 students.
Responsibilities
- Teach Design Technology and Visual Communication to Junior Year 7–10 students.
- Foster a positive learning environment that supports student motivation and learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the college’s professional development activities.
- Participate in the College’s extra-curricular and co-curricular programs as required.
- Engage in the college’s restorative practices and relational management approaches.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience teaching methods listed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of the developmental needs of adolescents and emerging young adults.
- Proficient in the use of ICT for communication and record keeping.
- Interpersonal skills appropriate for working with students, staff and parents and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Organisation and administrative skills suitable for planning and preparation.
- VIT Certification.
- Commitment to supporting the College’s relational management and restorative practices.
- Ability to maintain a positive, respectful learning environment.
- Willingness to participate in professional development and potentially in after-hours activities.
- Open to participating in the College’s extra-curricular and co-curricular programs as required.
- Experience with Mandatory Reporting and knowledge of Child Safety expectations and standards.
